When the Willowbrae Bowling Club was formed during the autumn of 1910 it was a temperance club. At its inception it amalgamated with the pre-existing Willowbrae Club.
The membership currently stands at over 200, of which about one third are ladies.
The Club badge and the flag both depict the Clubrooms and the two greens separated by a central path.
The club tie is blue and has a simple motif representing a willow tree on a hillside.
The Willowbrae Lions
Two stone lions lay stretched out on the roof of the Clubhouse for many years. The reasons for this are obscure. It seems that there are a number of houses, in the Willowbrae and Restalrig areas, where lions guard the entrance. Some authorities say that they are there to frighten off evil influences.
In 1998, when the roof was being repaired the lions were damaged and had to be replaced. The new lions (pictured) are much more alert and, as you can see are equipped with a shield. So the Club should be free from evil for the foreseeable future!
